“Body Liberation for Gender Equality: Training Curriculum” is a resource designed for youth workers and educators interested in strengthening young people’s competencies on issues related to the themes such as body image, gender inequalities, weight stigma, and body liberation.
In 6 modules this training curriculum serves as a beginner for discussions and exploration. The material includes practical steps, handouts, reflection questions, additional reading resources and other tools to assist youth workers and other educators in supporting young people, especially women.
THE CONTENTS:
- What’s body for me? Explore body beyond appearance; reflect on different bodies, stereotypes, media representation and visibility.
- Relationship with the Body. Explore what shapes our relationship with our bodies and how language can hurt or empower.
- Me & Being Myself. Introduce body liberation and radical self-acceptance; shift attention from appearance to experiences, abilities and needs.
- Breaking the Stigma. Understand weight stigma and size discrimination across media, education, healthcare, work and everyday life.
- Body Comes in Different Shapes and Sizes. Use intersectionality to understand overlapping identities; recognise body-related harm and practise boundary-setting, redirection and exit.
- Body Liberation through the Support System. Rewrite harmful body narratives and map peer, community, professional and structural support actors.
