About us

Vision

We envision a world where all bodies can live shame free and joyful lives.

In such a world, no one is judged by their body size, type, shape, or ability. All bodies are valued, included, and seen. Everyone can grow up and grow old, fulfilling their full potential without unreasonable limitations in physical or societal spaces.

Mission

The Body Liberation Network exists to bring together diverse voices and expertise for challenging the existing injustice towards bodies of all sizes and shapes.

We do this through education, advocacy, research and other forms of activism.

Values

Liberation of bodies

we see a liberated body as a human right. Even more so, we advocate for the body neutral approach as our chosen path towards a wholesome and fulfilling human experience.

Non-discrimination and inclusion

we pledge to uphold principles of non-discrimination, ensuring that everybody is included and treated with dignity.

Belonging

we are committed to creating inclusive and diverse environments where everybody belongs, and feels valued.

Uniqueness or not

we see beauty in the diversity of existing experiences, and truly believe in inherent rights for every person to be exactly who they are or want to be. With our efforts we are building a world where people can show up authentically themselves.

Our approach

We genuinely believe that complex challenges require complex solutions.
Therefore we work on initiating change on three levels

Empower, equip and inspire people of all shapes and sizes for a more fulfilling human experience.

Individuals

Educate about, advocate for and promote inclusion of all bodies.

Society

Challenge the societal systems that consider some bodies as less worthy than others.

Systems

Who we work with

Our work primarily benefits everybody affected by body shape and size discrimination. Some of the groups we work with include those who are fat, disabled, LGBTQI+, women, BIPOC, and intersections of those.
