This is a pocket guide with 12 practical educational cards to help you recognise, understand, and challenge body shaming, weight stigma, and diet culture. Use it to find words for difficult moments, set boundaries, support others, and explore what body liberation and empowerment can look like in everyday life.

Instructions:

  1. You can print out the cards, save them digitally, or use them as conversation starters in a group, workshop, youth-work setting, or with people you trust. Each card focuses on a different aspect of body liberation from responding to body comments and recognizing microaggressions to practicing self-compassion, speaking up as a bystander, and finding support.
  2. You do not have to go through the cards in order or use all of them at once. Choose the topics that feel most relevant to you, read through the examples, and notice which ideas, phrases, or action scripts you might want to keep for later. You can also discuss the cards with a friend, family member, colleague, or group and compare how body shaming shows up in different situations.
  3. Take your time and remember that not every response will feel right for every context. You never have to speak up if it does not feel safe, and protecting your peace is a valid choice. Use the scripts as suggestions, adapt them to your own words, or decide not to engage at all.
  4. Most importantly, approach the guide with care and without judgement. Some topics may bring up difficult feelings or personal experiences, so take breaks whenever you need to. If the content feels overwhelming, consider reaching out to someone you trust or to a qualified professional for support.
